This project was cultivated from a shared dream between Conchi and Antonio, who for years imagined a special place to welcome people and offer them something more than accommodation: an unparalleled experience, close and in contact with the soul of Cantabria.
In 1995, Conchi and Antonio They began planning this great dream, taking rural tourism courses and training at an important moment in rural tourism as it began to gain strength in the region. During the construction process, their dream found solid ground as the new Law on Inns of the Government of Cantabria.
The name “Cubas River” highlights a unique natural phenomenon since when the tide rises, the waters reach the town itself Cubas, where the inn is located. So Río Cubas connects nature with local identity and pays homage to the place that makes it possible.
The inn was officially established in 1997, and after much effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork, it opened its doors in March 1998. Since then, it has been much more than just a place to stay: a life project for its founders, who have fully dedicated their entire professional careers to it.
They were the pioneers in receiving the Certification Diploma of the “Q” for Tourism Quality in 2002 in Rural Tourism of Cantabria, Thanks to its architecture and environmental essence, it has led them to be officially recognized in 2004, as they received the Tourism Quality Award from the Government of Cantabria.
